ACCOMMODATION OVERVIEW

• The accommodation is split between two buildings: the Writers’ Cabin and the Shower Block
• The accommodation is not accessible to people using wheelchairs or other wheeled access devices due to the rural terrain and steep gradient of the ground which is gravelled in areas and the steps needed to access both buildings
• The Writers’ Cabin is situated on a quiet and unfrequented lane, a three-mile drive from the market town of Machynlleth
• The accommodation is surrounded by farmland where sheep and cows graze and fields are put out to pasture
• To access the Cabin, you park in a driveway. There is then a walk up the lane for sixty metres, then up a steep gravel path, then through a gate 140cm wide, and along a grassy path of thirty metres. This can be a little uneven in places due to moles.
• On arrival at the Cabin, there are three steps to the Veranda and two further steps from the Veranda up into the Cabin
• To access the Shower Block and toilet, you step down two steps from the Cabin to the Veranda and three steps from the Veranda to the garden, then there is a short grassy path of three metres followed by six steps down to the Shower Block and toilet. There is one step up into the Shower Block

WRITERS’ CABIN – FURTHER DETAILS

• The Cabin is a single story building all on the same level. The doorway measures 70cm and there is a gap between the kitchen/study and bedroom which measures 67cm and has no door
• The standard-sized double bed is elevated to a height of 82cm, with a foldable step available for accessing it
• Clothing storage is underneath the bed. There are two additional coat hooks
• The kitchen work surface is at the standard height of 94cm
• There are two dining surfaces: the breakfast bar 94cm or the desk 76cm
• There are five seats in the Cabin: two soft furnishing seats (40cm high); two wooden stools at the breakfast bar (67cm high) and one wheeled office chair with adjustable height.
• There is additional outdoor wooden seating on the Veranda and in the garden
• The fridge is under the counter
• There is a pull-out sofa bed in the study if you need to bring a carer or a PA. There is no extra cost for a second guest
• We welcome you bringing objects from home which make you feel at ease during your stay

SHOWER ROOM, TOILET & SAUNA – FURTHER DETAILS

• The Shower Block is all on one level
• The doorway into the Shower Block and into the bathroom are both 72 cm wide
• The doorway into the Sauna is narrower at 56cm wide
• The shower is walk-in
• The toilet is at a 45cm high
• The sink height is 80cm
• The bench outside the bathroom is 47cm high
• 90-minute saunas are available on request subject to our availability (see website for details)

LIGHTING

• BEDROOM: two bedside lights; one pendant light; strip light underneath the bed to illuminate the under-bed storage
• KITCHEN/STUDY one desk lamp; two spotlights in the kitchen; an overhead cooker hood light; two pendant lights
• EXTERIOR: two lights on the Veranda; two lights outside the shower room
• SHOWER ROOM: two spotlights; two globe lights by the sink
• We can provide additional lighting if required

GARDEN

• There grounds around the Cabin are a little uneven in places where moles have disturbed the ground
• There is additional garden furniture (two tables and several chairs) in the garden which can be moved upon request

ASSISTANCE DOGS

• We welcome assistance dogs. If you plan to bring one, please let us know in advance what would make your assistance dog most comfortable

MOBILE RECEPTION

• Reception at the Cabin is not very reliable
• Satellite WIFI broadband is provided throughout both the Cabin and the Shower Block
